Light of the world,

You stepped down into darkness

Opened my eyes, let me see

Beauty that made this heart adore You

Hope of my life spent with You

And here I am to worship

Here I am to bow down

Here I am to say that You're my God

You're altogether lovely

Altogether worthy

Altogether wonderful to me

King of all days

Oh, so highly exalted

Glorious in heaven above

Humbly You came to the earth You created

All for love's sake became poor

I'll never know how much it cost

To see my sin upon that cross

*.* Do not ask me to be a man, for I am not. I am a woman. *.*

Do not ask me to be a man, for I am not. I am a woman.
(And this is not a demeaning statement.)

For the women of God, and the men too.

We live in a world where the women, sometimes, try so hard to be like a man. It seems like women around the world are working so hard to prove the fact that, 'I can do what a man can do too.' And it seems to be from some form of hatred and hurt that spurs the women of recent times to work harder and harder to prove themselves (remember the feminist movement). There has been, for the longest time, a struggle for gender equality. Women all over the world feel the need to prove themselves constantly.

But why?

We don't need to. Simply because the fact that we are not men. From the very beginning, God has structured us, in our mothers' wombs, very very carefully and fearfully. He has said, 'This child is going to be a woman.' We have been chosen and called to be women, women of God and women for God.

Our femininity, our bodies, our minds and our beings -a woman.

Do we not know our place, that we should fight for one that does not belong to us, that God did not give us?

What am I really saying? Am I saying that women cannot be researchers, we cannot fly planes, we cannot be CFOs, we cannot be directors, we cannot be professors, we cannot be lawyers and doctors, we cannot be evangelists, writers, pastors...etc? Am I saying that we should only be housewives and we should only stay at home?

Definitely not.

But what I am saying, really, is that we don't need to compete with men in the things they do (fly, teach, research, doctor, preach etc) in being a man.
Let me say it again: We do what men do too, but not like men, but like women.

There is a form of distortion to feminism, that we prove our ability to do all the things that men do. Men have never sought to prove that they can do all the things women do. (They don't quite bother to too!) And so why subject women to purely masculine criteria? We ought to be judged (if we ought to be) by the criteria of femininity, for it is femininity that we participate in the human race. And femininity has its limitations, likewise to masculinity.

This is what I am saying: To be a woman is not to be a man.

Therefore, do not fight like a man. Because we are not. But fight like a woman. Run the race being a woman. And do not be ashamed about it. For no greater calling is there for us, than that to be a woman of God and a woman for God.

Know the position and authority you have as a woman of God, and be that woman.

If you're a man and you're wondering why reading this, firstly, it is good to know. Hahaha. But more importantly, that we are all running this race of endurance together. What better thing is there than to understand each other, so we can better encourage, support, spur and lead each other to run towards our prize.

For the husbands, and husbands to be, love your women as a woman. Love them, for they are God's gift to you.
And God has given man a woman so that he will not be alone (note: a woman, not many women).

---Truly blessed by the book 'Let Me Be A Woman' by Elizabeth Elliot.

Love,
Felily :)

*.* Mark 12 *.*

Hi All,

I'll be teaching on Mark 12 two Saturdays from now. So I've decided to put up some questions and pointers here since most of you use facebook. Please read Mark 12 here (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark%2012&version=NIV) and think about the following questions.

1. Read verse 28. What was the attitude of this teacher of the law toward Jesus? Why? What did he ask Jesus? How was he different from the previous questioners? What was his attitude toward the Bible? How could he keep his heart pure? (Ps 119:9-11; Ps 1:3)

2. Read verse 29. What does this phrase, “the Lord our God, the Lord is one”, tell us about God? (See Ge 1:1; Isa 40:15; Jn 14:6) Why is it that only the one true living God can give us forgiveness and eternal life and hope in his kingdom?

3. Read verse 30. What is the most important commandment? Why? How can we love God with all the heart, soul, mind and strength? How does obedience to this command preclude idolatry of all kinds, and reveal the way of blessing? (Ex 20:5,6)

4. Read verse 31. What is the second great commandment? How is it related to the first? How did God demonstrate the meaning of real love (Ro 5:8)? Why must we love those who don’t seem to deserve our love?

5. Read verses 32-33. How did this young teacher respond to Jesus’ answer? What does his answer reveal about him? Read verse 34. What did Jesus say about him? What does this mean? (How was this man different from Nicodemus in John 3?)

PS Please include other Enoch Members who may have been left out in this note. Thanks!

Love,
John Lam

*.* Hello Everyone *.*

Hello lovely people!

Its the March Holidays now.... What a time to relax, or rather rush through the LARGE LARGE amount of homework the school has given you. OR camp until you are dead tired. Hahahaha.

But in all, look to God for strength. That He is your source of help, He is your tower of refuge.

Was just wondering how many of us are still at the feet of Jesus waiting upon Him. Life has been going on, busy with school work and work and what nots, but have we left the feet of Jesus?

I encourage us all to go back to our first love. At the feet of Jesus. :)

Just want to share this song that's been stuck in my head:

Down at Your feet oh Lord/
Is the most high place/
In Your presence Lord/
I seek Your face/
I seek Your face/

There is no higher calling/
And no greater honour/
Than to bow and kneel before Your throne/
Im amazed at Your glory/
Embraced by mercy/
Oh Lord, I live to worship You/

Lets all take time to bow down at His feet, even though we're so busy. Because at His feet we are constantly renewed by His love and His grace. We have strength and power in Christ.

Let us endure. Let us hold on. Let us press in. Let us go deeper.

Let us say it is not enough.

Felily

2. Why are there natural disasters all the time, and so many people die from it?
3. Why do good christians suffer too?
